Parking: on street parking
Cost: free
Age Range: all ages
Ground Cover: wood mulch
Features: Single play structure featuring several slides, rope ladder, wooden tilted ladder, balance beam, hanging bars, enclosed fireman pole, interactive walls, and imaginative play areas under structure. Attached to the structure is a circular sandbox with neighborhood toys that actually stay put! 4 big kid swings and 4 baby swings.
Surrounding Park Area: Small amount of greenspace sunken beneath street level. Many trees surrounding area.
Shade: It’s pretty shady. There are a few areas where the sun peeks through, but we went on a very sunny morning in August and it was quite pleasant.
Seating: multiple benches surrounding area and a wall where parents can also sit
Stroller/Wheelchair Access: There is a wheelchair accessible ramp into the park from Brookridge Drive. The main pedestrian walkway through the park is paved. The playscape is basically inaccessible to children with motor impairments, and even the sandbox is located on the far side of the playscape, accessible only by way of the shredded bark surfacing that surrounds the playscape.
Safety: I have no issues with the actual play structure; it is made of a synthetic wood (kind of a lighter colored material, something I haven’t seen very often). No chance of splinters or anything like that. You know, as with any sandbox, sand throwing and pitiful attempts at sharing of the toys come with the territory.
Cons: No bathroom. No water fountain. It would be really nice to some kind of water source since sand eating and throwing kind of come with the territory of a sandbox.
Overall Assessment: My three year old has been to all these playgrounds with me and he STILL mentions this one! He was completely enamoured with the sandbox and the toys in it (they are like digger toys and dump trucks, so you know, who wouldn’t like it?)! I think this is a lovely play area. It’s tucked away in a nice neighborhood. Nice trees surround it. When I was there, two other mothers were there with their children and they were nice and friendly. It’s just lovely.
